For his solo exhibition at the Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, Jason Dodge has combined new and older works that, like a recombination of given words, tell a new story.
Jason Dodge’s works usually consist of a combination of a few or individual objects, some of which are familiar from everyday life, and a title. There’s nothing more than the objects in the room and their titles. Sometimes these objects are so banal or familiar, such as a flute, a lightbulb, or a blanket, that one could almost walk past without noticing that something “is” or “happening” there—it’s like a breath on the back of one’s neck: his work requires attention and openness to even notice its presence and perceive its aura.
