DIEGO PERRONE “I PENSATORI DI BUCHI”

EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION:
This exhibition will be the first solo exhibition in New York of the Milan-based artist Diego Perrone. Perrone’s work has strong conceptual ties with the Italian artists of the early 1970’s from the “Arte Povera” group.
Typically, Perrone employs friends and villagers from his own rural hometown outside of Milan in his artworks. For this installation at the gallery Perrone will present a new body of large color photographs. Each photograph pictures a villager as an acrobat performing in and around a series of deep circular holes that the artist excavated in the ground. For Perrone, the performers are “the thinkers of the holes”.
Previously, Perrone has exhibited his work at Manifesta 3 in Ljubljana, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo per l’Arte in Torino, Lenbachhaus Kunstbau in Munich, and Galleria Massimo de Carlo in Milan.
