For his fourth one-person exhibition in New York, Jeff Burton will present a series of new color photographs that continues his exploration of the cultural and sexual landscape of southern California. Fueled by his own participation in Hollywood's sex/film industry, Burton makes work that champions desire and pleasure through a visual language of glamour, excess and beauty. His photographs travel seamlessly from porn shoots in the San Fernando Valley, to the empty sidewalks of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, to a mini-mall in the desert that doubles as the Liberace Museum. For the first time, Burton will also present a video portrait of Los Angeles' Historic Cultural Monument #111, popularly regarded as the Hollywood Sign.
In early 2001 Powerhouse Books will release Jeff Burton's first American publication, Dreamland, with an essay by Dave Hickey.
