Igshaan Adams: Weerhoud at the Aros Aarhus Art Museum
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum presents Weerhoud, Igshaan Adams’ first major solo exhibition in the Nordic region.
The exhibition features Adams’ intricately woven tapestries and sculptural dust clouds from 2014 to the present, including one of the artist’s largest installations to date, also titled Weerhoud, an Afrikaans word meaning “withheld.”
Adams’ practice explores the impact of trauma on the human psyche and the healing power of movement, with a particular focus on dance as a builder of resilience and agency. Weerhoud presents new works, including a six and a half meter long tapestry created in collaboration with the South African dance group Garage Dance Ensemble.
Weerhoud is organized in collaboration with the Hepworth Wakefield, UK, where it was originally on view from June 22 – November 3, 2024.
